Evaluating parental experiences in using technology for remote learning to teach students with special needs during the COVID-19 pandemic

Background The 2020–2021 school year shut down because of the COVID-19 pandemic brought an unprecedented burden on parents, especially those with special needs children. Parents children were left to assist their remote learning at home using technology for first time. These students used face-to-face and one-to-one classroom by skilled educators but are now be educated parents. Objective This study explored parents’ experiences assisting time, during pandemic. Method A transcendental (descriptive) phenomenology was undertaken explore nine participants, recruited from two divisions in Manitoba, Canada, child’s education challenges they experienced home. purposive sampling technique used, data collected through telephone interviews. Results Eight out parents reported a negative experience learning. Four major themes emerged after analysis: participants’ fear anxiety learning, difficulty maintaining routines students’ behavioral issues mental health changes lack support Furthermore, results indicated that integrating ineffective. Conclusion suggests poor communication between teachers, desire involved planning lockdown not met. also schools failed meet IEPs this highlights special-needs is inappropriate without educational assistance.
